Visiting CVASA (Coachella Valley Autism Society), Palm Springs
Mrs. Prita Kemal Gani, MBA, MCIPR, APR as the founder of LSCAA (London School Centre for Autism Awareness) and Emilya Setyaningtyas (Corporate Reputation Department LSPR) visited CVASA (Coachella Valley Autism Society), Palm Springs on Tuesday, November 14 2017.
More than 3.5 millions Americans live with an autism spectrum disorders. 35% of young adults (19-23 yo) with autism does not have a job or received a Bachelor Degree education after finishing high school.(Buescher et al, 2014). In June 2014, only 19.3% of people with disabilities in the US were participating in the labor force – working or seeking work. 12.9% were unemployed, meaning only 16.8% of population with disabilities was employed (Bureau of Labor Statisctic,2014)
This facts and statistics are the main reason CVASA offer the following programs to socialize autism awareness in Coachella Valley. These programs are:
- Monthly parents support goup meeting
- Latino Coffee Night
- Resource Library
- Information packet – medical and therapeutic from national resources
- Social Receation programs – recreational activities for individuals and children with autism, Such as friendship lego club, kids fit club, group music therapy, hands on art programs, teen geoup, young adult group
- Special Events – bowling night, halloween carnival, holiday party, family picnics, Annual autism walk
- Workshops for families and educators dealing with autism
The purpose of the visit is to see the facilities, to gain more information about what CVASA have and share the LSCAA program to CVASA. So both of us can combine our programs to socialize autism awareness and autism acceptance around the world.
Awarding Night Post Graduate Programme
The ECU and City & Guilds Awarding Night is an awarding night event held on November 25, 2017 at Prof. Dr. Djajusman Auditorium and Performance Hall. This awards night is where the top 53 students scored above 90 for the subject of Strategic Issue Management and Social Media for Business. Achieved by 35 students for the SMB course and 18 SIM students, they are 47% of outstanding students from all students who follow the subject lesson. Batik clothes is one of the themes worn by students and the two companions who attend awards ceremonies such as relatives, family or parents.
The opening ceremony was opened by a speech from Dr. Rino F Boer by giving a surprise event for invited guests is the students give flowers to relatives or parents who have supported the students until finally they succeed on the night of the award with a very proud value. The great dedication and the much struggle of students to get this highest scores in both courses is enormous, in fact the courses of Strategic Issue Management and Social Media for Business are two international courses studied from Edit Cowan University and using full English lessons. The exam is done through 3 stages that must be passed by the students such as examples for the exam SIM are; stage 1 (Media Monitoring), stage 2 (Log Book), and stage 3 (Communication Plan).
The event was continued by giving the award plaque to the outstanding students, beginning with the 3 highest score in the subject of Strategic Issue Management achieved by (1) Quodvultdeus Okto Sri Dhanurwendo, (1) Djauhari Oratmangun, (2) Ana Christina Valdez Cordovez, (3) Natalia Lusnita. 3 highest score for subject Social Media for Business achieved by (1) Kannethly Garry, (2) Cornelia Alverina, (2) Ryan Haryanto, (2) Ravinoldy Boer, (3) Aldi Satrio Herlambang. LSPR Graduation Ceremony for Class Of 2017
November 30th, 2017 marks the most exciting moment for LSPR Class of 2017 as the London School of Public Relation Jakarta held its annual graduation ceremony. The events was held at the Ballroom of the Ritz Carlton – Pacific Place Jakarta and was attended by approximately 1119 students from both the Undergraduate and Post Graduate in total not included their family and love ones who made the day extra special. The graduation was divided into 2 sessions the morning session was for the students of Public Relations, Marketing, International Relations, and London School Beyond Academy and the afternoon session was for the students of Mass Communication, Digital Media and Advertising, Performing Arts Communications and Master’s Degree Program.
Both of the session were open by the Procession of the Senate of the London School of Public Relations Jakarta and opening remarks by Dr. Andre Ikhsano, M.Si as the President Committee of LSPR Graduation Ceremony as well as by Mrs. Prita Kemal Gani , MBA., MCIPR., APR as the Founder and Director of LSPR Jakarta. On her speech, Mrs. Prita gave message to all the graduates from class of 2017 to use all of the knowledge they have gained from LSPR wisely and to always keep their Almamater’s good reputation and to always make her proud!
At the morning session of the show continued with greetings from Mr. Chairal Tanjung, Director CT. Corp, speeches from Dr. Illah Sailah, Ms as the Coordinator of Kopertis III Jakarta and also the speech of Dr. Handry Satriago, CEO of General Electric – Indonesia that said the first step in becoming a leader is to be a leader for ourselves.

Conventry University Visited LSPR Jakarta
London School of Public Relations – Jakarta got the chance to be visited by one of the lecturers from Conventry University London. The Campus Visit Activity took place from 27 November to 2 December 2017. Dr. Ioannis Chapsos as a Research Fellow in Maritime Security, Center for Trust, Peace and Social Relations of Coventry University, London gave his presentation in PGP class and a seminar in the Auditorium.
Dr. Ioannis Chapsos was the Director of the MA Course CTPS in the field of Maritime Security and a researcher who seeks to understand more the interrelationship and interconnection between conceptual approaches against maritime security, challenges and threats in the maritime region and he saw the ways in which maritime security can be enhanced through a particular focus on governance and capacity development.
Dr. Ioannis Chapsos did the teaching in ICBD class on the CMSD (Challenges to maritime sustainable Development) course. He raised the topic of non-state actors and international of security. Over the past few sessions, students of Post Graduate Programme were ask to listen to a presentation and write a paper about the discussed topic.
In addition to teaching in the classroom, Dr. Ioannis Chapsos also gave a seminar with the theme “Maritime Challenges and Blue Economy Opportunities”. The seminar was conducted last Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Prof. Dr. Djajusman Auditorium and Performance Hall LSPR Jakarta attended by lecturers, students of the LSPR PGP and staff.
The opening speech of this seminar was delivered by Dr. Adam j. Fenton. He stated that LSPR and Coventry University collaborate to introduce maritime issues to the students, professors, and staffs LSPR. Because communication maritime is one of the new concentration on LSPR.
Dr. Ioannis Chapsos stated that “Blue economy became the new direction for the development in Indonesia that prioritize the utilization of natural resources for economic growth, social welfare, health and the environment”. In addition, he also associates the Blue Economy with the vision of President Jokowi, “I believe that with hard work and cooperation, we will be able to protect the nation and all its citizens of Indonesia, to improve the well-being of the community, and to educate the nation. ” (Elizabeth/Anita/Megan/Fakhira/Citra/Dea/Cantika)
“Disney Concert” by LSPR CHOIR
Last 4 and 5 December 2017, London School of Public Relations held a choir concert entitled “Disney Choir” in collaborations with LSPR Dance and LSPR Band, composed by Giovanni Tomasowa. The concert was held from 07:00 PM until end at Prof.Dr.Djajusman Auditorium and Performance Hall Campus B LSPR Jakarta.
In Disney LSPR Choir concert, there’s two separate team; team A and team B. Team A sung songs like Breaking free, you’ve got a friend in me and for the team B they sung A Whole new world, colors of the world and you’ll be in my heart. Also collaboration between team A and team B,they sung the songs like; candle of the water and can you feel the lovetonight. For solo/duet/vocal group they sung beauty and the beast, go the distance, how far I’ll go, I see the light, I won’t say if I’m in love, let it go, love will find a way, reflection, so this is love – a dream is a wish your heart make (mash up) and we’re all in this together.
Uniquely, “Disney Concert” not only followed by member of LSPR Choir.LSPR Choir gives the opportunity to alumni to actively enliven this event by singing some songs from Disney.
The spirit of the audience enjoying the event, was strongly felt by the Committee. The tickets were sold out H-2 before the event begins. So when the event was held, there were no empty seats. (Fakhira/Elizabeth/Megan/Fina)
Higher School Economics Russia visited LSPR – Jakarta
Wednesday, November 29, 2017, A delegation of professors from HSE – Saint Petersburg, Russia (http://spb.hse.ru/en) visited LSPR Jakarta to deliver a workshop seminar to LSPR students. . The visit began with a brief meeting with the Dean of the campus and International Relations & Partnerships Office at the Penthouse of LSPR C to discuss future collaboration with Higher School of Economics St. Petersburg campus in Russia.
Through HSE’s guest lectures, students were able to explore the Russian Culture and Traditions, learn about Russia’s modern Higher Education system as well as get a glance on historical ties and modern relations between Russia, the Asia-Pacific Countries and Indonesia in particular from the Russian prospective.
HSE and LSPR are partner universities since 2016 and run a student exchange programme. Constantine explained about their program traveling around some countries to teach the world Russian language as one of the Russian Federal Education program, they arranged some public lecturers, seminars, workshops, and classes for some universities in Indonesia. They introduced some subjects from Russia International Program for student exchange or study abroad, such as business, politics, and communications.
This seminar at LSPR was part of the HSE – Saint Petersburg’s international project «Investing into future: cooperation between Indonesia and Russia in Education, Science and Culture» that runs within the Federal Programme “Russian Language 2016-2020” and is supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia. The core idea behind this project is to give international students a cultural prospective on contemporary Russia and to promote Russian Higher Education and Russian Language – Mr. Konstantin Platonov, Director of HSE – Saint Petersburg Centre for International Cooperation says.
